CHROMEBOOK CARE

While you are relaxing and recharging, make sure your Chromebook stays safe and clean for the next school year.

✅ Best Practices for Your Chromebook:

  • Keep the Case On: Protective cases must stay installed at all times, if your device came with a case.

  • Maintain the Battery: Keep it charged over breaks. For long-term storage, charge to 80% and shut it down using the power button (shutting the lid does not power it off).

  • Store Safely: Keep it in a cool, dry spot where it won’t be stepped on or knocked over.

  • Carry with Care: Close the lid first, then carry it with two hands like a book.

  • Clean Gently: Use a soft microfiber cloth for the screen; avoid harsh chemicals.

  • Protect the Charger: Pull from the plug—never the cord—and keep it away from pets.

❌ Things to Avoid:

  • Avoid Extreme Heat: Never leave it in a car, in direct sun, or near windows.

  • No Food or Drinks: Keep snacks and liquids away to prevent permanent damage.

  • Don't Lift by the Screen: Always pick it up by the base to avoid breaking hinges or glass.

  • Clear the Keyboard: Never leave pens or pencils on the keys before closing the lid.

  • No Harsh Chemicals: Avoid window cleaners and paper towels; they scratch the screen.

  • Leave Tags Alone: Do not remove or deface school barcodes or asset tags.

  • Protect Your Password: Never share your login; you are responsible for all activity on your device.

You are responsible for damage to your Chromebook.

RESOURCES FOR PARENTS

Our district is providing families access to GoGuardian Parent, a mobile app designed to provide parents/guardians insight and control over their student's online activity when on school-managed devices and accounts. GoGuardian Parent was created to help provide students additional educational support and is a companion to the classroom engagement and internet filtering tools that our school uses. The GoGuardian Parent app provides an overview of the apps, extensions, documents, and websites your student visited, as well as internet controls that you can set for out-of-school hours.

More information can be found on our website: GoGuardian Chromebook Management for Parents

More Boosterthon goals = more fun at Cactus Ranch!

Mrs. Emerson’s 4th grade class was the first class to reach 100% registered, and Ms. Calderone’s 5th grade class was the first to raise $2,000!

Their reward? Getting to “style” Ms. Sealy and Mrs. Bentley for the day!

We’re loving all the excitement, teamwork, and school spirit as our students continue crushing their Boosterthon goals. Way to go, Cactus Ranch! 💙💚

A nine-photo collage shows students at Cactus Ranch Elementary “styling” Ms. Sealy and Mrs. Bentley as a Boosterthon reward. Students add silly hats, feather boas, tinsel, oversized glasses, face paint, and other colorful accessories while the two staff members smile and play along. The collage also includes group photos with the winning classes and a final picture of Ms. Sealy and Mrs. Bentley showing off their funny finished looks.
Things got a little saucy at Cactus Ranch!

Last week, we reached another Boosterthon goal, and our Top 10 earning students earned the chance to turn Ms. Sealy into spaghetti!

They piled on the noodles, poured on the sauce, and topped it all off with plenty of cheese!

Thank you to everyone who has helped us reach our goals and made our fundraiser such a success. We’re having WAY too much fun celebrating! 💚💙

A nine-photo collage shows Cactus Ranch students celebrating a Boosterthon goal by turning Ms. Sealy into “spaghetti.” Students surround her as she sits on a chair covered in protective plastic, piling cooked noodles over her head and lap, pouring spaghetti sauce on top, and adding shredded cheese. The final photos show Ms. Sealy completely covered in noodles and sauce, smiling with the Top 10 earning students.

We hit another Boosterthon goal last week, and this celebration got a little messy!

Our Top 10 earners earned the chance to Silly String our Assistant Principal, Mrs. Bentley! They had a blast covering her from head to toe while everyone cheered them on.

Thank you to our families and community for continuing to support our Boosterthon fundraiser. Every donation is helping us get closer to our next goal and creating some pretty unforgettable school memories along the way! 💚💙

Way to go, Longhorns!

Last week, we hit our first school-wide goal in our Boosterthon fundraiser, and we celebrated in a very hairy way… with Mustache Day!

Students and staff joined in the fun by sporting silly mustaches throughout the day. We loved seeing everyone celebrate together and show their school spirit while working toward our Boosterthon goals!

Way to go, Longhorns! Thank you to everyone who has supported our fundraiser so far. We can’t wait to see what goal we reach next!

We are so excited to share that a PIE Grant was awarded to purchase an amazing bundle of virtual field trips for 2nd Grade! This resource will give students the opportunity to explore more than 90 destinations and experiences right from their classrooms from visiting New York City and going on an African safari to exploring dinosaur digs and discovering fascinating places around the world.

These interactive experiences integrate reading, writing, science, geography, multimedia, and critical-thinking skills, making learning engaging, meaningful, and accessible for every student. Thanks to this grant, 2nd Grade students will soon be embarking on so many exciting new adventures without ever leaving the classroom!

One woman holds a large ceremonial check for $240 to support virtual field trips that will bring learning experiences from around the world into the classroom, while another displays a sign recognizing the campus as a grant winner.
The Cactus Ranch Library is excited to receive a PIE Grant! Mrs. Freeman will use this grant to add books that reflect the diverse families, cultures, and experiences within our school community.

These books will help ensure that every student has the opportunity to see themselves, their family, and their story represented on our library shelves.

Every story matters and YOUR story is worth celebrating!
