CHROMEBOOK CARE

While you are relaxing and recharging, make sure your Chromebook stays safe and clean for the next school year.

✅ Best Practices for Your Chromebook:

  • Keep the Case On: Protective cases must stay installed at all times, if your device came with a case.

  • Maintain the Battery: Keep it charged over breaks. For long-term storage, charge to 80% and shut it down using the power button (shutting the lid does not power it off).

  • Store Safely: Keep it in a cool, dry spot where it won’t be stepped on or knocked over.

  • Carry with Care: Close the lid first, then carry it with two hands like a book.

  • Clean Gently: Use a soft microfiber cloth for the screen; avoid harsh chemicals.

  • Protect the Charger: Pull from the plug—never the cord—and keep it away from pets.

❌ Things to Avoid:

  • Avoid Extreme Heat: Never leave it in a car, in direct sun, or near windows.

  • No Food or Drinks: Keep snacks and liquids away to prevent permanent damage.

  • Don't Lift by the Screen: Always pick it up by the base to avoid breaking hinges or glass.

  • Clear the Keyboard: Never leave pens or pencils on the keys before closing the lid.

  • No Harsh Chemicals: Avoid window cleaners and paper towels; they scratch the screen.

  • Leave Tags Alone: Do not remove or deface school barcodes or asset tags.

  • Protect Your Password: Never share your login; you are responsible for all activity on your device.

You are responsible for damage to your Chromebook.

RESOURCES FOR PARENTS

Our district is providing families access to GoGuardian Parent, a mobile app designed to provide parents/guardians insight and control over their student's online activity when on school-managed devices and accounts. GoGuardian Parent was created to help provide students additional educational support and is a companion to the classroom engagement and internet filtering tools that our school uses. The GoGuardian Parent app provides an overview of the apps, extensions, documents, and websites your student visited, as well as internet controls that you can set for out-of-school hours.

More information can be found on our website: GoGuardian Chromebook Management for Parents
